How Moksha Started…

307K.

That is the number of covid related deaths in India so far. That is the number of families that were unable to see the faces of their loved ones for the last time or even conduct final rites. Moksha was developed as a grief support system for such families to share the memories of their loved ones who have passed away and grief collectively.

Now that you know what Moksha is, I am sure all of yall are curious about what or rather who was the motivation behind Moksha.

Last year, I was on the way to Dusty and Ancient Lakes in attempts to start my year right when I received the call that shattered my year to smithereens. My grandfather had passed away 13,000km from me. No matter how much I cried or asked, I was left with no means to see his face for the last time or attend his funeral. The lack of support system in the USA did not make the grieving process any easier for me. That was probably the first time I ever regretted being an international student.

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, I felt the same helplessness as I heard my uncle who died from covid was cremated even before his daughter was able to see his face for the last time. I also noticed how all my relatives shared their respective memories with my uncle in their own capacity, be it through whatsapp status, facebook post etc. That is the main reason why Moksha was created: to create a centralized platform for individuals to collate memories, from friends and family, of their loved ones who have passed away, thus supporting their grieving process.

Hope all of you will support Moksha when it is released mid-July!
